Captured Thought: Does Nothing Really Exist?

In Issues & Answers we've been talking about if "nothing" really exists. There's the classic question:

"if a tree falls in the middle of the

woods, and nobody is there to see it, did it

                     actually happen?"

The technical answer is both yes and no.

What the heck does that actually mean?

So the real question is does nothing actually exist?

So, it got me really thinking. Is nothing an actual something...

or is nothing a lack of something?

If a tree falls in the middle of the woods, and nobody is there to see if, did it happen? Yes. Just because nobody knows it happens doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Just because it's nothing to you doesn't mean that's is not something.

Something is something because it exists.

Nothing is something because it exists.

Nothing is in the eye of the beholder.

                                                                                     Something is a universal subject,

       while nothing is an opinion.

And in my opinion, nothing does exist, because it's something.

  1. I really like what you did with this blog post. You managed to take a complicated philosophical question and visually deconstruct it without taking away from what you were saying. Actually, the way you set it up is really fluid and easy to read. I understood what you said after reading it only once, and it's totally because of the font. If this was 12 point times new roman, I'd have to read it at least twice and use a lot more mental effort.

  2. I thought this post was both well written and appealing to the eye which kept me reading it and got me through the post rather fast. Although I am still a little confused on what exactly this something vs. nothing topic is, I understand that it is not a simple concept to grasp for someone not taking Issues & Answers (it's probably even hard for people taking that class). I liked how you used different font because it showed the connection between different sentences, and how different parts of your post connected to each other.
