Best of this Week: Presentation

Last week we started watching Born into Brothels and I thought that it was a very powerful documentary not just because it was a powerful subject, but because of how it was presented.

As you stated, the cinematography in this movie was impeccable;

The way the colors and movements flowed had a huge effect on how it impacted me.

This documentary really made me feel as if I was in India, living these children's lives. The swirving, the sounds, the colors;

I was able to connect with these children even though I've never come close to experiencing what they have.

I was so impressed by everything that was presented, and all in all, I really felt like it made the point it was trying to. It left a lasting impression.

I FEEL compelled do help them. I FEEL like using
my talents and passions to help others.

But I mainly  FEEL impacted.

Connection: Payback is Creative

Fame is something that everyone has romanticized fame at one point or another. The glitz, the money, and of course the undying love from the opposite sex.

But nobody really takes time to think about the sad, hard side of fame.

Recognized as "the kid in the bedroom", Bo Burnham has created a career for himself by performing comedy songs on YouTube, using a crappy keyboard and a webcam. His talent still shown through, and has captured the hearts of many gawky, awkward losers all across the world.

Bo Burnham is not only vastly talented with music, but he is by far one of the smartest people I've ever heard of. Comedy and Creativity takes brains, and he's has more than even he knows.

In this clip (compliments of djstandifermusic) from a stand-up show in Portland, Oregon, Burnham expresses the hard side of fame.

He expresses, in one of the most creative ways ever, what it's like to have people constantly judging you. And the thing about this video is that it's relatable; no matter who you are, you know how he feels.

In the Sea of Information, we are taught that using Creativity can unite us all as a whole. In this video, we are united in this overbearing stress and sadness that comes with being judged, and being told what to do. People think they know who you are.

The best part of the whole thing has to be when people realize that it's a serious piece of art when the words We think. We know. You. sounds. The immediate response from the audience is an example enough as it is.

If you don't know Bo Burnham, I suggest looking him up. You can find anything from completely insightful to poop jokes. The whole spectrum is covered, and all of it is creative and uniting.

Captured Thought: Does Nothing Really Exist?

In Issues & Answers we've been talking about if "nothing" really exists. There's the classic question:

                    "if a tree falls in the middle of the

woods, and nobody is there to see it, did it

                     actually happen?"

The technical answer is both yes and no.

                                                                What the heck does that actually mean?

                 So the real question is does nothing actually exist?

So, it got me really thinking. Is nothing an actual something...

                                                    or is nothing a lack of something?

If a tree falls in the middle of the woods, and nobody is there to see if, did it happen? Yes. Just because nobody knows it happens doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Just because it's nothing to you doesn't mean that's is not something.

Something is something because it exists.

                                                                          Nothing is something because it exists.

                            Nothing is in the eye of the beholder.

                                                                                     Something is a universal subject,

       while nothing is an opinion.

             And in my opinion, nothing does exist, because it's something.
